PD Blower Greasing Frequency and Maintenance Tips

PD blowers should be re-greased after every 250 - 500 hours of operation.   Additionally, if you are working in a dirty or strenuous environment, you will need to re-grease the bearings more often.   The drive end bearings are grease lubricated on most blowers and are re-greased using grease zerk fittings. Blower’ s typically have two grease zerk fittings, one to lubricate each bearing.  For help locating the grease zerks on your Sutorbilt blower please reference the picture below. When Re-greasing your PD blower use the factory recommend   AEON PD Lithium complex based grease.

Maintenance Tips For Greasing a Blower:

  • Use hand powered grease guns only.    DO NOT  use air powered grease guns. Air power grease guns can blow out the internal lip seal.
  • When adding new grease to your blower old grease will be forced out of the grease reliefs. Check the grease relief vents and make sure they are clear of debris. Re-greasing with a blocked grease relief vent can blow out the internal lip seals.
  •   Fully re-grease the bearing during servicing. The bearing will be fully greased when you notice fresh grease is coming out of the grease relief.
  •   Correctly greasing the bearings on your PD blower or vacuum pump on a constant basis cannot be over emphasized

If you cannot find the greasing locations you visually inspect the head plate around the bearing and look for the   grease   zerk .
