How To Change Your PD Blower Filter Element

Positive displacement blowers and vacuum pumps have two impellers that trap pockets of air while they sweep by the inlet and discharge connections. Each time this process occurs, a pressure pulse is created which results in noise and vibration from your blower.

PD Blower silencers are often used on the inlet and discharge of the blower to soften these disruptive sounds (discharge silencers are used with vacuum blowers). While PD blowers and vacuum pumps often emit low-frequency noise, they can also generate higher frequencies which make using a silencer necessary.

Each blower is different in size and speed which makes ensuring your silencer is the right size vital to the operation of your blower.

Even though there are a wide variety of truck blower silencers, they can be categorized into three main types which are:

  • Chamber type

  • Chamber absorptive type

  • Absorptive type
